Quick Start: Setting Up Your DNS #
New to DNS? Learn the basics first: What is a DNS Entry?
Quick Setup – What You Need #
When you signed up, you received two important pieces of information:
- Your Server IP Address (e.g., 123.45.67.89) – provided via email
- Your Subdomain (e.g., “cherry”) – also in your email and inPIPE plugin admin
IMPORTANT – DNS Record Settings #
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | A Record |
| Host/Name | Your subdomain (e.g., “cherry”) |
| Points to/Value | Your server IP address |
| TTL | 600 (10 minutes – for fast propagation) |
Note: You can increase TTL to 3600 or higher later once everything is working. Lower TTL = faster DNS updates but more DNS queries.
Check DNS Propagation #
After creating your DNS record, check if it has propagated worldwide:
→ Check DNS Propagation at DNSChecker.org
Enter your full subdomain (e.g., cherry.example.com) and select “A” record type. Green checkmarks mean your DNS is working in that region.
Step-by-Step: Creating Your DNS A Record #
Step 1: Find Your Server Details #
Your server details are in:
- Welcome Email – Check your inbox for the signup email
- inPIPE Plugin Admin – WordPress Dashboard → inPIPE settings (Premium users)
Step 2: Access Your DNS Provider #
Log in to your DNS management panel where your domain is hosted (Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.)
Step 3: Create the A Record #
Example: If your domain is example.com and subdomain is cherry:
| Type | Host/Name | Points To / Value | TTL |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | cherry | 123.45.67.89 | 600 |
This creates: cherry.example.com → 123.45.67.89
Step 4: Save and Wait #
Click Save or Add Record. DNS propagation typically takes:
- 5-15 minutes: Most common (with TTL=600)
- Up to 1 hour: Occasionally
- Up to 48 hours: Very rare
Step 5: Verify It Works #
Check at DNSChecker.org – Enter your subdomain and verify it points to your server IP.

Troubleshooting #
DNS Not Working? #
- Double-check the IP address – Compare with your welcome email
- Check the subdomain spelling – Must match exactly
- Verify at DNSChecker.org – See which regions have propagated
- Wait a bit longer – Even with TTL=600, some regions may take up to an hour
- Clear your browser cache – Old DNS might be cached locally
- Reboot your router – Very occasionally, your local router may have a persistent cache that needs clearing
Command Line Check (Advanced) #
nslookup cherry.example.com
Or:
dig cherry.example.com
Should return your server IP address.
Next Steps: Once DNS is working (verified at DNSChecker.org), your Transmute Engine will be accessible at
https://your-subdomain.example.com. You can then configure your engine settings in the inPIPE plugin.
