General Settings #
After installing inPIPE, you’ll need to configure the general settings to ensure optimal tracking performance. This guide covers the essential configuration options.
Accessing General Settings #
- Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard
- Navigate to inPIPE → Settings
- The General Settings tab should be selected by default
UTM Tracking Settings #
- Enable UTM Tracking: Toggle to activate/deactivate all UTM parameter tracking
- Track Standard Parameters: Choose which standard UTM parameters to capture:
- utm_source
- utm_medium
- utm_campaign
- utm_term
- utm_content
- utm_id
- Custom Parameters: Configure up to three additional custom tracking parameters
Privacy Settings #
- Anonymize IP Addresses: Enable to mask visitor IP addresses for GDPR compliance
- Data Retention: Set how long UTM data should be stored (30-365 days)
- Cookie Settings: Configure first-party cookie behavior and expiration
API Key #
inPIPE automatically generates a secure API key during installation, which is used for:
- External integrations with marketing platforms
- REST API authentication
You can view and manage your API key in the Settings area. For security reasons, regenerate your API key if:
- You suspect it has been compromised
- You’re setting up new external integrations
- You’re resetting your tracking setup
Default Settings #
The plugin comes with sensible defaults that work for most websites:
- All standard UTM parameters are tracked
- IP anonymization is enabled
- 180-day data retention period
- Secure API key pre-generated
You can adjust these settings at any time based on your specific marketing tracking needs and privacy requirements.
Saving Your Changes #
After making any changes to the general settings:
- Review your configuration
- Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page
- Test your tracking setup after making significant changes
These general settings form the foundation of your inPIPE configuration and determine how the plugin captures and processes UTM parameters from your website traffic.
